What Do I Want Out of This?

As I stated in my first post, I really want to know why iTunes is so big and popular.  Not only do I want to figure out which company in  the online music industry is closest to taking down iTunes, but also will another device ever rise above the iPod.  I was informed by one of my friends that iTunes is being sued, which will probably lead too an opening for another major downloading software to step in.  (Props to Amanda Hiers)  For I want to figure out who that next business is.  iTunes has really great software, but there can always be something bigger & better.  Some people might say Rhapsody might be the closest.  Therefore I want to know why they say that.  What does Rhapsody have that iTunes doesn't?

What Do I Already Know?

WHAT DO I ALREADY KNOW?
When I ask myself this question, I can come up with several replies.  Apple of course is the company who created iTunes.  Although iPod's where created in 2003, they didn't really become popular until 2006.  The iPod's that were created in 2003 where no where near as advanced as the one to the right of this post.  Since Apple introduced their first model of the most popular iPod in 2007, the iPod Touch, they have come out with 3 new models.  Not only has Apple introduced three new models of the iPod Touch, but also have released newer versions to the iPod Nano, another type of iPod.  When Steve Jobs, the founder of Apple, was asked about the popularity of his company, he replied with, "I had no idea it would ever get this big".

The Story Behind It

STORY BEHIND IT
I am choosing to do my blog research project on Apple-iTunes.  I want to find out why they have such a great grasp on the online music industry.  I know just about everyone who I'm friends with has an iPod.  Whether it's an iPod Touch or an iPod Nano, they have one.  To get the major functions of an iPod, you will need to have access to an iTunes account.  When you have an iTunes account, you are free to buy songs and videos or apps on the iTunes store.  They also offer free songs, videos, and apps as well.  I am on a mission to find out why Apple-iTunes have this grasp, and who is closest to taking over the online music industry.
